This is a throwback to something I worked on a few years ago: the PurpleDrop digital microfluidic (DMF) device and a capacitance sensing method I designed for it that turned out to work pretty well. In the process I encountered a weird dielectric hysteresis phenomenon in kapton which I've never really understood, and which completely disappeared when I tried to look closer at it, leaving the observation a nagging mystery to me still today.
